The Great Mythical Stampede

SNF artwork 2026

Art installation by CHUNKIE

21 Aug–5 Sep
Armenian Street
Free

This immersive artwork imagines these creatures breaking free from the objects they inhabit. Winged horses soar from carved wood, lion-dogs leap from porcelain, and phoenixes burst from embroidered silk.

Enter the portal to elsewhere through The Great Mythical Stampede. By day, mythical creatures in the Peranakan Museum remain frozen in time – carved, stitched, and glazed onto century-old objects. But when the veil between myth and reality thins, what will awaken?

Long before myths and legends were written in books, they were passed around dining tables, shared between neighbours, and retold through generations. Pull up a chair, join the conversation, and experience these stories the way they were always meant to be shared.
